Prepare yourself for a weekend you will not forget! 

Shahrzad,  the international bellydance sensation,

is coming to LONDON in April 2020 and you have the chance to train and watch this star in action.

Shahrzad needs no introduction: based in Cairo, she works in the city's top clubs and hotels. She is one of Egypt's TOP DANCERS. Shahrzad is also a brilliant instructor, who has years of teaching experience behind her and a series of dance instructional DVDs. Now you can learn with her live.

Workshops 

This is an intensive weekend of dance training. All workshops will be concentrating on technique with the aim to push YOUR DANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL. Shahrzad is a self proclaimed 'geek' at approaching dance technique, loving to break down each move into intricate details.  

​

Each workshop is 2 hours long and all are welcome regardless of level  class sizes will be capped to ensure that you get a real chance to LEARN from Shahrzad.

Shahrzad is a kind, approachable teacher and we hope to create a fun interactive atmosphere for everyone. 

 

Saturday: 
11:30am: DOORS OPEN - Please arrive by 11:45am
12-2pm: Golden Era Technique and Combos Workshop
2-3pm BREAK
3pm-5pm: Shimmy Technique and Layering Workshop
7pm doors open: HAFLA / SHOW IN EVENING (show starts at about 7.30pm)
The Hafla is in the same venue/ room as the workshops, attendees can use the 2hr break to refresh/change before the Hafla or grab food. There will be nibbles provided at the Hafla but not a full meal.

A Night with Shahrzad - Hafla/Show Saturday Night

Not only will you have the chance to train with Shahrzad but you will also be able to watch her perform. We will be having a small but intimate hafla where Shahrzad will be dancing twice. Other acts have not been confirmed but it will be a very simple hafla as it is during Ramadan. The emphasis being on Shahrzad with a relaxed atmosphere. We will also be providing a simple buffet. We hope for a really interactive, friendly atmosphere all sharing our love of dance and welcoming this star to the UK.  

 

Venue and Accomodation

Workshops AND Hafla will take place at :

The American Musical Theater Academy London
68 Wallis Rd, Hackney Wick, London E9 5LH, United Kingdom

 

We will be in the main large studio 
The dance room has SPRUNG FLOORING 
And it is mirrored.  

There is a small green room with kettle and microwave which you can use in the break - or to chill out in. 
There may be a shower but you have to access it though another studio and it depends if that studio will be in use (we hope in evening before the hafla it wont be)

 

Travel Links

It is a 5min walk from Hackney Wick Overground Station Zone 2. 
It is a 20min Walk from Stratford International Station which is on the underground - Central and Jubilee lines, the DLR and Overground (ONE STOP ON OVERGROUND TO HACKNEY WICK).

Trains run from Hackney Wick to Stratford / Richmond /Clapham Junction until midnight (hafla will end at 11pm) 

There is street parking but you will need to pay. I am finding out about this and will have more details soon.

Surrounding Area

It is a 10min walk from the Olympic Park so you can chill out on the grass in the break. There also a lot of cafes around within 5min walk (we are not sure if they are open on Sunday - I will find out) 

Also if you walk 20min or go one stop on Overground you will be at STRATFORD WESTFIELDS CENTER - a massive shopping mall with loads of shops and restaurants and basically anything you could ever want. 

ACCOMMODATION 
Unfortunately there is no hotel less than a 20min walk away BUT there are LOTS of Hotels one stop away from Hackney Wick on the Overground at Stratford next to Westfields shopping center. We advise you staying there and enjoying everything Westfields and the Olympic park have to offer. You can then jump on the Overground (you just need a contact-less visa/debit card or an oyster card) for one stop and walk from Hackney Wick station. Alternatively you can try Air BnB which is a lot cheaper but please take care.

Other details 

We are doing our best at Zara's Zouk to offer everyone the BEST prices possible. Our aim being that the workshops are as accessible as possible to as many dancers who want to learn. Hence, due to us giving the best prices possible we regret that the tickets, once purchased, are non refundable. 

​

The early bird 1st and 2nd release tickets are at AMAZING prices and as a result cannot be transferred to another dancer's name. Other tickets, even though are not refundable, ARE transferable so you can pass them on to a friend if you are not able to come. 

​

If for some EXTREMELY unlikely reason Shahrzad is not able to make it for the workshops a FULL REFUND will be given on all tickets. There will also be an alternative option for a part refund and an alternative teacher will cover the workshops (the workshop topics may change in this very unlikely case).

NOTE: No Zara's Zouk  or external vouchers may be used to purchase workshop or hafla tickets

PRIVATE ONE ON ONE CLASSES

There may also be the opportunity for private classes with Shahrzad on the Monday and Tuesday (27-28th April) depending on demand. If you are interested in a private class PLEASE CONTACT US DIRECTLY. Spaces will be limited and priority will be given to those with full weekend passes.
